If you've driven around the Road Safari you'll certainly have seen some of the unique features that pop up courtesy of the Southern white rhinos... enormous piles of poo!
Go behind-the-scenes with Senior Keeper Jenny as she explains the importance of these communal poo piles called 'middens', and how the changing seasons might affect what they look like if you visit at different times of the year:
There's more to this midden than meets the eye...
As Jenny mentions, stool-studying scientists in South Africa determined that by using their impressive detective skills the rhinos can identify chemical cues in the midden that give them information on other rhinos in the area - things like age, sex, general health and more!
What shape (or shade) will you see?
If you've not visited recently be sure to look out for the different sizes and colours of middens left by the roaming rhinos - if might look very different to the last time you were in the reserve!
