Woburn Safari Park is offering students the opportunity to gain husbandry skills and experience with a range of animals through working alongside the animal keeping team. All students for any placement must be 18 or over, and studying a relevant course, and have a full UK drivers licence (and access to a vehicle) to attend the placement. Please be aware there is no public transport to the Park.
Long term Industry placements
Students should be studying a relevant course that supports a year working in industry. We require a commitment of 6 to 10 months for these placements, ideally 5 days a week (this can be flexible).
Placements are available in the following areas:
- African Reserves x2 - This department cares for hoofstock, in cluding Southern white rhino, a variety of antelope species, giraffe, monkeys, zebra, ostrich, alpacas and camels
- Carnivores x2 - This department cares for African lions, North American black bears, Canadian timber wolves and Amur tigers.
- Animal Encounters x2 - This department cares for a range of taxonomic groups including birds, small carnivores, primates, small mammals, reptiles, invertebrates and domestic hoof stock.
- Elephants x2 - This department cares for Asian elephants
- Conservation & Research x1 - Assisting with conservation projects and animal research throughout the park, 3 days a week.
Short term work experience
These placements take place in the Animal Encounters department only and requires a commitment of 5 days a week, for a minimum of 4 weeks.
All placements are voluntary, with no payment offered and may include working weekends. Students will need to financially support themselves for the duration of the placement. Unfortunately we cannot offer accommodation or expenses, but can advise on local student accommodation for long term placements.
