Running hard to protect the rhino
Woburn Safari Park carnivore keeper, Becky Fuller, is raising money for Save The Rhino International by competing in two running events wearing a special rhino costume.
Becky will be running in the Silverstone Half Marathon on Sunday 12th March, before setting her sights on the famous London Marathon which takes place on Sunday 23rd April. Although undertaking this challenge alone, Becky will be joined by up to 14 other fundraisers wearing rhino costumes - all running to raise money for this important conservation charity.
Training hard for a good cause
The rhino costume may look great and get lots of attention, but Becky has had to train twice as hard to ensure the weight doesn't affect her running ability. She has enlisted the help of a personal trainer who she sees for two hours a week, with the focus on Becky's mobility strengthening and stamina.
Becky is hoping to raise over £1,000 to help ensure the future conservation of the rhino. She said: "Being someone who likes a challenge, running the London Marathon has always been something I wanted to do.
"I chose the Save The Rhino International charity from working closely with the herd at the Park. The five rhino here have really captured my heart and knowing they are facing a crisis out in the wild made this fundraising challenge a very easy decision."
