Rhinos make the most of the wet weather

  • Animals

We were all fed up of the wet and windy weather earlier this year, but the Southern white rhinos living at the Park were loving it.

Woburn Safari Park is home to a group of three rhinos, one male and two females, known as a crash.

The wet weather meant that various muddy puddles  appeared in the Savannah Grasslands reserve. And females, Mirijam and Mkuzi, wasted no time at all in making the most of them.

Keepers spotted the pair taking it in turns to wallow in the large puddles, coating themselves from head to toe in mud in the process!

Although they look tough, rhinos actually have very sensitive skin and so they will often use the mud as a form of sunscreen or to ward off insects.
