Adorable baby lamb joins Farmyard Friends
The summer babies keep on coming at the Park and the Animal Encounters team recently welcomed a new addition to the Farmyard Friends walk-through in the Foot Safari, as Somali black headed sheep Kim gave birth to a healthy lamb.
The young male has been named Bert and keepers are happy with how he has settled in and visitors can see him out exploring his home alongside the goats and donkeys in the Foot Safari.
Somali black headed sheep can be found in South Africa and Somalia, and don't grow wool on their bodies, instead they have hair! This helps them to tolerate the high temperatures they would experience out in the wild.
Lianne Paine, Senior keeper, said: "We are very happy that a new lamb has joined the Farmyard Friends family and Kim is being a very attentive mum. We hope that he will be the first of many as we grow the flock over the next few years."
