Tarli the elephant calf meets Hayley

Naming competition winner meets Tarli...

We're not sure who was more excited last week when the winner of our elephant calf naming competition, Hayley Palmer got to come to the park and spend some time with beautiful four month old Tarli.

Along with her friends Leann, Alice and Kim, Hayley got to enjoy a special Safari Off Road Adventure VIP Experience with Bob the Ranger, before getting up close with Tarli, her mum Damini and Aunties Chandrika and Yu Zin.

Hayley said: "We loved meeting Tarli and the whole day was amazing. Her name definitely suits her as she's such a little star.

"It's nice to have a bond with her and I look forward to coming and visiting regularly to see her grow up."

Hayley was introduced to the matriarch of the Asian elephant herd, Chandrika, where she also got the opportunity to get in Chandrika's good books by feeding her a banana. There was also a special shout out from keeper Amy during the elephant demonstration; where Hayley was introduced to the crowd as choosing the fantastic name for the elephant calf. Their VIP Safari Off Road Adventure with Bob saw Hayley and her friends get up close to some of the residents here at the park. (Thanks to Kim for the great picture below).

"We can't wait to come back for another VIP Experience with Bob again soon," said Hayley. "The whole day was a great experience and I am really pleased that my suggestion was chosen to be Tarli's name."
