Baby Calf Diary: 16 weeks old

Tarli meets Hayley...

Here we look back over Tarli's last couple of weeks and how she’s been getting on at Woburn Safari Park. She's now double her body weight at 248kg - not bad for only four months old!

Tarli met Hayley Palmer, the lucky winner of the elephant calf naming competition, and her three friends when they came to Woburn Safari Park for the day...

"I was so excited to meet the person who had picked such a great name for me. Hayley and her friends were great fun and I loved spending some time with them all. Hayley even told me she would come back to visit when she can, which is fantastic - I can't wait!"

Inspector Tarli...

"As I've mentioned before, I just love exploring at the moment and I'm experiencing different sights, sounds and tastes every day. My keepers took me, as well as mum and Aunties Chandrika and Yu Zin, up to Heathfield which is behind my house. I tried to copy everyone else by eating some bamboo leaves but everything is still so big for me! At least I gave my keepers a laugh..."

BANANA-rama...

"Now that I am getting bigger, I have begun eating some solid food and have discovered that my favourite is... banana! I could eat them all day and I also enjoy carrots and sprouts. I will still suckle off mum until I am two years old but I'm really enjoying trying all these different tastes!"
