Animal Facts

The 11th Duke of Bedford, Herbrand was president of the Royal Zoological Society and together with his wife Mary, the Flying Duchess, introduced Muntjac, Waipiti and American Bison to Woburn Park, amongst other types of deer and antelope. They began sending animals they had reared to zoos and other collectors around the world and brought new species to Woburn. So it was continuing a long term interest in animals when Woburn Safari Park opened in 1970. Use the menu below to view facts about some of the animals here now.
